Data Analysis

After each run, a set of 16 ‘.fsa' files are generated in a run folder. A 96 well plate will contain 6 sets (6x16=96).

• GeneScan is used for the initial data analysis which sets the internal size standards and thereby determines the sizes of experimental peak.
• Genotyper extracts the information from the GeneScan file and creates a more user friendly data search and manipulation environment.   Electripherograms are generated and samples can be grouped and sorted by color, file name, sample info, etc. to more easily interpret results.
  • This is where including Sample info in your data sheet is VERY helpful.
• Analyses can be redone with different parameters.
  • Sample names cannot be changed once assigned by your data sheet information
• MAC OS9 users have GeneScan files converted to MAC format prior to Genotyper analysis
  • MAC GeneScan support will be discontinued by December 2006, at the latest.
• GeneMapper analysis will be offered soon and is expected to fully replace GeneScan/Genotyper by Summer 2007.
